About this site

The Port Antonio Cenotaph was erected in 1929 by voluntary subscription and is dedicated to the sons of Portland who died in World War I, 1914 - 1918.

Similar monuments were erected in a number of other parish capitals, islandwide, in memory of Jamaican soldiers who fought and died in the First and Second World Wars.
