Executive

The Executive Office of the Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT) provides overall leadership, coordination, and strategic direction for the organization, ensuring the preservation, promotion, and development of Jamaica’s cultural heritage. It oversees specialized divisions such as Archaeology, Estate Management and Business Development, Public Education, Public Relations and Communications, Heritage Research and Legal Services, Corporate Services, Human Resource Development and Management and Project Management and Implementation, while maintaining direct accountability to the Board of Trustees.

Leadership & Strategic Direction

Headed by the Executive Director, who reports to the Board of Trustees.

Provides overall policy guidance, coordination, and oversight of all divisions.

Ensures alignment with Jamaica’s national cultural heritage policies and priorities.

Heritage Protection & Management

Holds the legal authority to declare national monuments and designate protected heritage sites.

Oversees the preservation, conservation, and sustainable use of heritage properties across Jamaica.

Corporate & Administrative Services

Manages finance, human resources, and information technology systems.

Provides administrative support and ensures proper documentation of assets and transactions.

Audit

Ensures financial accountability, transparency, and compliance with statutory requirements, safeguarding public funds while supporting the organization’s mission.

Data Protection and Privacy

Safeguards personal and sensitive information about heritage sites, staff, and stakeholders. They ensure compliance with legal standards, prevent unauthorized access, and build public trust by responsibly managing personal and institutional data. This protects both cultural assets and individuals while supporting transparency and accountability in the Trust’s operations.

The Executive Office has full responsibility for driving the JNHT’s mission: “to inspire a sense of national pride through the promotion, preservation, and development of our material cultural heritage,” through coordinated staff expertise and support to implement operational plans, and fosters partnerships with all its stakeholders.
