Buff Bay Court House

Built in the first half of the nineteenth century, the Buff Bay Court House stands as one of the oldest buildings in the town. This cut stone structure was built in the Georgian style of architecture, adopted from England.

Buff Bay was once the capital of the parish of St. George. However, in 1867, Sir John Peter Grant, then governor of the island, reduced the number of parishes from 22 to 14. St. George was added to the parish of Portland, and Buff Bay lost its status as a parish capital.
