Boyhood Home of the Most Hon. Sir Donald Sangster

The Boyhood Home of the Most Hon. Donald Sangster is the home of Jamaica’s second prime minister and an important political figure in Jamaica’s history. Born in 1911, Sangster was raised in Fullerswood, a rural area in Mountainside, where he lived with his family before beginning a career filled with personal and national achievements. He served as Acting Prime Minister during Sir Alexander Bustamante’s term and was elected before his untimely death in 1967.

The structure features Jamaican vernacular style architecture, with panelled windows, Spanish walls, along with a traditional brick oven and stone steps.

Over the years, the building has deteriorated, with the walls being severely damaged and in need of dismantling. Some original features such as the stone steps and columns could still be restored and preserved.
