About this site
Balaclava Railway Station was erected around 1892 and was declared a national monument on the 2nd of October 2003. The building was a typical Jamaica/Georgian structure and is a two-storey timber structure. The upper floor was capped with a gable-end roof with an adjoining hip roof that had a downward fish-tail fretwork on its eaves. The design featured sash windows and recessed panel timber doors.
In April 2021, the station was destroyed by fire.
