The Admiralty Houses, Port Royal

The Admiralty Houses, part of the Old Naval Dockyard in Port Royal, were built towards the end of the 1800s to the early 1900s to house senior naval personnel. The site comprises a series of four two-storey semi-detached residences in two blocks of similar design and construction.

The construction material is of reinforced concrete foundations, brick infill walls plastered and painted, timber-framed roof covered with aluminium shingles, timber and concrete floors, timber wooden frames with concrete lintel, timber panelled doors, and timber batten doors.

The Admiralty Houses were declared a national monument by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust on November 5, 1992.
