About this site

The statue of the Rt. Excellent Sir Alexander Bustamante at the southern end of St. William Grant Park was unveiled at a ceremony on Sunday, May 24, 1970. The statue was erected on a pedestal formerly occupied by the statue of Queen Victoria. The bronze statue was the work of sculptor Alvin Marriott.

The statue faces south to the waterfront. The right arm is extended while the left is held to depict a picture of the “baring of the chest”. The face is looking south-east. The statue conjures one of Bustamante’s historic poses.
