About this site

Easington, formerly located in the parish of St. David, has several national heritage sites. These sites, now located in St. Thomas, are Easington Square, Judgement Cliff and Easington Suspension Bridge Piers.

In 1692, the same notorious earthquake that destroyed much of Port Royal caused a massive landslide that took the lives of many, including a cruel Dutch plantation owner and his enslaved population. It is said that the cliff (Judgement Cliff) takes its name from the fact that this disaster took the lives of both a cruel Dutch plantation owner and his enslaved population.
