Stewart Town Methodist Church

Declared 16 September 2021 · Trelawny · Churches, Cemeteries and Tombs

Stewart Town, located in Trelawny, was officially established in 1812 to meet the growing coffee production and the needs of the community. It became an important settlement and commercial space for settlers and their enslaved Africans. Since then, Stewart Town has been quieter with Brown’s Town taking over its commercial popularity.

It is home to several heritage sites, including the 19th and 20th century churches such as the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Webb Memorial Baptist Church and the Stewart Town Methodist Church. These sites, though varying in conditions, remain as significant sites.
