Nanny Town

High in the Blue Mountains, Nanny Town was the stronghold of the Windward Maroons, led by the legendary Queen Nanny — Jamaica's only female National Hero. The site is of immense cultural and spiritual significance to the Maroon community. Archaeological excavations have revealed the remains of the fortified settlement that resisted British colonial forces throughout the early 18th century.
